Icefisherman and Dog Rescued After Falling through Ice

DECEMBER 14, 2020, MANTUA, UT – A man fell through the ice at Mantua Reservoir in Box Elder County and was saved in a daring rescue which was captured on video by body cams worn by the rescuers. The man was on his way out to begin ice fishing when he saw a crack, tried to avoid it and fell through approximately 300 to 400 yards from the shoreline. The victim was clipped into a sled, secured by webbing and carabiners, which immediately sunk, pulling the victim and his dog down. On scene in response to a 911 call, Chief Castro of the Mantua Police Department retrieved a ResQ Disc from his vehicle. He and another officer made it approximately 400 feet from the shoreline before making contact with the victim. The rescuers were able to get the ResQ Disc to the victim immediately. As Chief Castro was attempting to assist the victim out of the water and free him from the sled that was still clipped in around him, the ice underneath the Chief broke. Trooper Castillo held the rope for BOTH individuals allowing Chief Castro to get out of the water and allow both officers and other teams of rescuers to free the victim from the sled, get the dog and his owner safely back on the ice and out of the freezing...

Tow Truck Driver Rescued from Pond

A tow truck driver who was struggling in the water and nearly drowned, showed up at the Port St. Lucie Police Department Wednesday morning to thank the officers who saved him.

According to police, Danny Hahn, who works with the towing company called Tow Master, was trying to find a car that crashed into a pond Tuesday

Man Stuck in River Pulled to Safety

JULY 16, 2017 – LINCOLNSHIRE, IL – Two men, who had gone out on the Des Plaines River in a canoe, found themselves struggling in the current after the canoe capsized. Officer Jason Zange was dispatched in response to an emergency call from a nearby resident who could hear the two men yelling for help.

Michigan Conservation Officer Saves Life

In October 2016, ResQ Disc headquarters received a notice of another confirmed rescue / life saved using the ResQ Disc Throwable Water and Ice Rescue Device making it the 524th reported rescue. DNR conservation officer helps rescue man from Detroit River

A Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officer helped rescue a man Saturday morning who had jumped into the Detroit River from the MacArthur Bridge at Belle Isle Park in an attempt to take his own life. At about 10:44 a.m. Saturday, conservation officer Richard Cardenas received dispatch information on a possible suicidal subject, who was driving a black Chrysler Town and Country van, and reportedly was planning to jump off the MacArthur Bridge. The 49-year-old Detroit man’s mother had called 9-1-1 after he called her on the telephone, telling her he had “relapsed on drugs; he loved her; but could not do it anymore.”
Cardenas – a conservation officer from the DNR’s Plainwell Customer Service Center who has worked for the department since January 2014 – arrived at the MacArthur Bridge approximately 1 minute after receiving the emergency dispatch information. He saw a van matching the dispatch description heading north on the bridge, leaving Belle Isle….
