FEBRUARY 1, 2022 – VINCENNES, IN – Dispatch received a call reporting a man screaming after falling through ice on a local pond. The Vincennes City Fire Department responded, arrived on scene and deployed both a throw bag and the ResQ Disc. After a few attempts, the man was able to grab the Disc, but let go as he began to be pulled out of the ice. The ResQ Disc was quickly redeployed and the man was pulled to safety. BAZETTA TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – Two police agencies in Trumbull County that patrol communities surrounding Mosquito Lake were gifted with new life-saving tools in case of a water emergency. It doesn’t matter if it’s winter or summer, whether the water is frozen or moving freely, there is always the possibility someone could need to be rescued from Mosquito Lake. “In the last couple of years, we’ve had officers assist over at the lake on some people falling in the water. Each time, we’ve had those officers come back and say will you please get us something in our cars so we’re not scrambling around looking,” said Cortland Police Chief David Morris. JANUARY 13, 2021, TARRYTOWN, NY – On January 13 the Tarrytown Police Department received an emergency call from a resident reporting that an unidentified female had just jumped into the Hudson River in the area of the River Walk. Tarrytown Police, Tarrytown Ambulance and Tarrytown Fire Department units were immediately dispatched to the area. Upon arrival to the scene, officers located the unidentified female who was approximately 20 feet off the shoreline bulkhead and struggling in the water. Utilizing a water rescue disk officers were able to pull the unidentified female closer to the shoreline bulkhead.
